Soy Protein Concentrate for Meat Processing

Natural soy protein concentrate is derived from soybeans and has a number of different cooking and baking applications. Soy protein concentrate for sausage is used in smoked or cooked varieties to improve the meat’s consistency and flavor. The concentrate binds the fat and meat for a smoother consistency and minimizes shrinkage in the smokehouse by increasing moisture retention. Because it contains seven times more protein than meat alone, it can help improve the nutritional quality of your foods as well.

    Some of my old (over 100 years) Russian recipes call for raw eggs as a binder and I found that your Soy Protein Concentrate is an excellent substitute, except that I found that 1/2 cup per five lbs. of meat is just right, instead of the full cup you people recommend.

    I purchased the soy protein concentrate for my first attempt at making bologna. As far as I can tell your product worked fine, as the batch turned out marvelous.

    Problem is I discovered that my wimpy little food processor is not adequate and I need to upgrade it.

    My only complaint is that it seemed to take a rather long time for the product ship once I placed my order. As I recall, I believe it was 2-3 business days.

    Soy protein powder can last a long time. If stored correctly even up to two years! However, we would recommend disposing of soy protein powder after its manufacturers expiry date has been exceeded. Protein powder generally loses its effectiveness after this date has passed.
