Description

Our Pretubed Natural Hog Casings 29-33mm are the easiest and fastest way to stuff sausage with natural casings. Conveniently packed in salt, the plastic sleeves easily slide on the stuffing tubes. After soaking them with the plastic still on, simply slide one end over your stuffing tube and pull the plastic off the other end.

The casings are sourced from Grade-ANorth American hogs only and are whisker free.

What Are Pretubed Casings
Pretubed casings come already strung on individual plastic sleeves. Since the casings are already individually separated, they are a lot easier to slide onto the stuffing tube.

One pound of meat will use about 2.5 feet of casing. The casings are packed in purified salt and have an indefinite shelf life when stored in the refrigerator. Flush and soak in tap water before using.

  4. Flush insides of casings to assist in smooth casing application.

Refrigeration
The natural casings should be kept refrigerated until ready for use. Un-refrigerated, these salted casings may give off a strong odor. This is Normal. Simply put the casings back into the refrigerator and the odor will subside. Natural casings should never be frozen. It affects their integrity after thawing and will cause more blowouts.

With the pertubed casing putting them on the horn is a breeze. Saving me a ton of time when I am stuffing.

    5. Samuel Pettigrew (verified owner)

      Great product

    6. Robert Heald (verified owner)

Casings were ez to use, excellent quality.

    7. Christopher Wagner (verified owner)

Makes stuffing with my little 5lb hand operated stuffer so much easier with the tubing. My family and friends always enjoy the sausage I make.

    8. MCL (verified owner)

I am not a veteran sausage maker by any means… I’ve just made maybe ten batches, but I know a good thing when I see it. Getting the natural casings on the stuffing tube was by far the most time-consuming and frustrating part of the process, so when I saw these I had to give them a try. Fabulous! The package says to soak them for 24 hrs (which I didn’t see because it’s on the inside packaging), but 1 hr was just fine.
Getting it on the stuffer was a joy… I watched a youtube video and gave it a go. It was on in seconds.
      Happy dance!
So… maybe they are a little more expensive than the regular, but if you’re a home sausage maker, in my opinion, they are the way to go!

    9. Sheryl Hatfield (verified owner)

Have tried these before. Like the product

    10. Lloyd Bobysud (verified owner)

    11. Andrew Sikkema (verified owner)

We have ordered from Sausage Makers before and they never fail to offer complete satisfaction and excellent customer service. Their product is top quality, the prices were at least 25 % lower than their competitors and they ship very fast! We will always recommend them as the best! Thank you for always being consistent.

    12. William Matlock (verified owner)

I am getting ready to help some friends learn how to make sausage and The Sausage Maker had everything that I needed.

    14. Darren Gillis (verified owner)

Love the product. Easy to use. Only problem was UPS just about destroyed the shipping box. The salt solution was spilled all over everything. Not Happy

    15. Paul Wolf (verified owner)

Bought hog casing which was excelent. No defects.

    16. Paul Ponzo (verified owner)

The casings are of high quality. I used these for my Italian sausage. As the directions say it is best to soak in water for 24 hours before use it makes them much easier to use and flushes the salt out.

    17. Georgette Rath (verified owner)

Excellent quality products and spices. Super easy to use the casing with the tube!! Fabulous. Thanks so much!!

    18. Robert Emery (verified owner)

Arrived in timely fashion – 100% as advertised.

    19. Robert Bilicki (verified owner)

Getting ready to use them this week

    20. CmdrDick (verified owner)

I bought a bunch of SausageMaker products as I’m spooling up and learning to Smoke and BBQ. So far, everything is scrumptious and as advertised. The 3,2,1 method produces great food in both the grill and the electric smoker. Now I need to get aboard some of the forums and learn the nitty gritty details.
      Thanks ! CmdrDick

      I don’t know, I haven’t used it yet.

    29. Robert Kennedy (verified owner)

Had been using salt packed casings from cabellas but they were inconsistent in diameter and we had constant blowouts. These were so simple and very easy to use. Cased 25 pounds and only had 2 blowouts while linking the brats.

    30. Charlie (verified owner)

I never bought pre-tubed casings before, but these work great!

    31. Larry Senechal (verified owner)

I’ve used these before. High quality with no tears. Well packaged for storage after first use.

    32. Mac (verified owner)

These pretubed casings made loading onto the stuffing tube a breeze. I wasn’t careful picking up the casing tube after soaking and some of the casing slipped off so I got a taste of loading an untubed casing. The only suggestion I would make is to put a sticker on the jar cover saying – must soak for 24 hours.

    33. John Eaton (verified owner)

This was the first time we have used pretubed casing. For a relative novice it made loading csing very easy.

    34. John (verified owner)

Worked as expected, easy to load onto tube having been already pre-tubed. Saved lots of time.

    35. T B (verified owner)

      Good quality casing

    36. Daniel R. (verified owner)

This was my first time making sausage and these pretubed were very easy to use. I also had 24mm sheep casing and that didn’t work out at all.

    37. Anonymous (verified owner)

I mix sausage in 15# containers 3 at a time by myself. Using the pre-tubed allows me to complete it quicker why the meat stays cold.

    38. Michael Thorson (verified owner)

      Same as above. Thank you.

    39. JWR (verified owner)

The casings worked fine for us. We wish they could have been shipped a bit more promptly, but when they arrived, they were as good as any we have found elsewhere.

Love your products including the spices. However using small amounts is difficult because of “classification”. I solved the problem with a small easily constructed “splitter”. Offered the design, no strings attached, to your cust. serv. people and was ignored. Offer still stands if you are interested.

    44. Joost (verified owner)

I have been using these for some time – while a bit more expensive, they’re really convenient especially if you don’t do this all the time.

    45. Roger McKay (verified owner)

      Good product.

    56. Jean (verified owner)

Awesome! Made 5 pounds of sausage, still have 3/4 of the package left. Saved for next year.

    57. Andrew (verified owner)

I like the diameter, probably the smallest natural casing out there without splurging on sheep casing. I haven’t used pretubed before, and they worked fine. They loaded faster than normal natural casing, and any blowouts I had were my fault. The instructions said to not rinse them so I didn’t, but they did have large salt crystals on them to help preserve them I guess. After making sausage all weekend, I had washed my hands about 100 times, and my skin was dry. The salt irritated my dry hands something awful. I recommend using gloves.
I don’t think the pretubed is much if any better than the regular casing, just slightly quicker to load on the tube. I’ll buy whichever is cheaper.

    58. ROBERT MAUPIN (verified owner)

THESE PRETUBED HOG CASINGS WORKED FANTASTIC EASY TO USE AND SAVED ALOT OF TIME

    59. Christopher Simpson (verified owner)

I am a novice sausage maker/hobbyist. I was reviewing all sorts of videos and I saw even the pro’s struggle with untangling casings. This was the way to go. I would have liked more information about how to prep them before use though. Wash off salt or don’t wash off salt, soak them for 15 minutes an hour a day or what? The video from this company online was only 41 seconds with no audio.

    60. Mark Roy (verified owner)

Never have been disappointed with the hog casings. Always very clean and no holes. Great quality.

    62. Chuck (verified owner)

I had a problem with a casing order, and I wrote to the SausageMaker on their website. They immediately contacted me and resolved my situation. If service after the sale is the bar for grades, then you get an “A+”.
      Thanks,
      Chuck

    67. Bryan Dickson (verified owner)

Once we got the casing onto the tube it worked great. But a paper describing how to do that might have been helpful. We weren’t sure what to do with the various plastic pieces that were preloaded into the casing.

    68. nick rinaldo (verified owner)

The product quality is exactly what I expected, good. However, I ordered both #1&2 Cure with 6x boxes of Casings the package arrived damaged and Cure was everywhere with no visible hole or crack in the container. Several boxes of the Casings were crushed and visible liquid present in the larger box. Box was destroyed but there was zero packing material to separate internal items.

This was my first ever experience making link sausage but overall it was fun and a good learning experience. The pretubed casings were a good choice although I did overstuff some. Can’t wait to make the next batch. All good here!

    75. Benjamin Johnson (verified owner)

The package arrived a soggy saline mess. Looks like the package got a hole in it on the last leg of shipping. I was able to salvage some of the casingings and get back into brine. Good casings from what I could use and had to use them earlier than expected. I wish the packaging was better.

Very first time I have used sausage casings and I found the Pretubed Natural Hog Casings to be exceptional quality and very easy to use. I would highly recommend the to anyone.

    86. CHARLES CHAUVIN (verified owner)

I honestly had an easier time with the loose casings. The pre-tubed casings seem like a great idea, especially if you’ve got a lot of sausage to stuff. And I will admit that being able to easily portion out your casings ahead of time is nice… but I found myself constantly fighting to make the pre-tube system to work. I eventually removed the casings from the tubes and used them like normal loose casings.

How long are the pretubed casings?

Q How long are the pretubed casings? answer now
      A

The pre-tubed casings are full length strands of natural casings. There will be multiple strands on each plastic sleeve. The diameters of these casings seem to be (in my experience) much more consistent in size than the bulk hanks. So, each strand is approximately 1 meter or at least 3ft long.

      A

      Hi Randy,

All of our wet natural casings come packed in purified salt. Sometimes the water from the casings (from being cleaned) can mix with the salt and create a brine in the package. Which is totally fine! Once you open the package and use what you need to stuff, you can put the casings back in the fridge in that salt brine. You don't have to add more salt, but you can if you want. This will make them saltier though, so make sure you rinse them well and soak them for longer. This will draw out that salt in the casings from being stored in the salt brine. You can vacuum seal them, or just use a ziploc bag or container. Due to being coated in purified salt, natural casings have an indefinite shelf life if kept salted and in the fridge. Hope that helps!

      Take care,

      Meghan
