This machine is awesome. I have shredded cabbage for sauerkraut for many years. This machine saved me many hours and a lot of effort! I shredded Cleaned, shredded, and packed 28 heads of cabbage in just over an hour. By myself!. Quick cleanup as well. I highly recommend this machine!!!

I shredded my first batch of cabbage. There are two options, one is bolted to a solid surface and the other is to attach the small rubber pads for use on the countertop. It would have more stability if it was bolted, but this was not an option for me. The plunger that pushes the cabbage down is quite wiggly and on easily hits the blades. I already have damaged one of the blades doing this. It would be better if the plunger were constructed with the two arms to stabilize it. When I was done there was quite a bit of cabbage underneath the unit that had fallen through. This unit is really big and cumbersome to clean and probably better for a professional setting than for home use.
ll probably use it again, but there s a question of whether it really saves time with all the other inconveniences which are involved (be prepared for a mess!) or whether it would be easier to just get out my knife and slice up the cabbage, or shred it in smaller chunks through a food processor.

Making slaw with this is great, it goes through heads quickly and does a great job. These folks make a quality product.
There are two items that could be better. The first is cleaning. Be prepared to spend a considerable time cleaning out the bits of cabbage that get jammed between the blades and the cylinder body.
The second issue is one that can be fixed. As another reviewer mentioned, the cabbage plunger will catch on the cutting blades and cause nicks, especially on the ends. Two things will prevent this. One is to grind a slight bevel on the front edge of the cabbage plunger plate, especially on the ends. The other is to add washers to the bolted connection between the cabbage plunger plate and the cabbage plunger handle. This will allow you to tighten this connection so that the cabbage plunger plate does not wobble so much and contact the cutting blades.
If you make a lot of kraut this is probably worth the money.

We have used the cabbage shredder to make sauerkraut. The shredder did a fine uniform job of slicing the cabbage. The unit is well built, and functions well. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to make quick work of shredding cabbage, or any other similar vegetable
