I have used this product for a long time, so I know that it is a good product. The problem is that you shipped it in a manner that left it without refrigeration for over a week. I appreciate the free shipping, but If I would have known how long it would take to get to me I would have rather paid for faster shipping. As it is, I don’t know if the $40.00 worth of starter culture, I received, is still any good? I will purchase somewhere else next time.

Caldwell’s starter culture works great on cabbage – I have tested it personally. The sour fermented cabbage was crispy with great fresh flavor from November until April, when we have finished the last bucket. Note that you should keep finished product in a cool place after the initial fermentation process. Just follow the accompanying instructions if you have no prior experience – they work. And this culture is also a bit cheaper at The Sausage Maker than from other distributors. Lesser price means faster turnout, which means the goodies are fresher.
