Food pH Test Meters

A food pH meter is an important accessory to have when doing any kind of food preservation activities. This includes canning, cheese making, sausage or jerky making and more. A pH food tester tells you the acidity or alkalinity level of the tested food on a scale of 0-14, with 7 being pH neutral. Anything less than 7 is considered acid, and anything above 7 is alkaline. The importance of knowing the pH level of food recipes you're preparing is that foodborne pathogens (bacteria) require slightly acidic levels in order to thrive.

Dry-curing pH testing, easily accomplished with a meat pH meter such as the Milwaukee pH meter offered here, will let you know when your food preparations are in danger of promoting bacterial growth.
