In addition to a wide selection of dehydrators, The Sausage Maker also carries several tools that will make will make meat processing easier. For example, one of the keys to creating great jerky is to use thin slices of meat. In our selection you will find manual and motorized slicers as well as special cutting boards designed to make thin slices. We also offer a wide range of the spices necessary for advanced jerky recipes.
Of course, a food dehydrator is the main piece of equipment necessary to dry meat. You will find several affordable units available in our collection. Selecting a Food Dehydrator
We offer several different dehydrator units including:
- The D5 with chrome, stainless or non stick shelves
- The D10, with twice as many shelves and a timer
- The D14, with four more shelves and optional insulation
- TSM Harvest, perfect for beginners
- Light duty round home dehydrator
Although all of these units can be used for homemade jerky, the D5 is well suited for making a decent quantity quickly. The Harvest and round dehydrators are great for drying fruits and vegetables, but for serious jerky lots you will want a larger unit like the D5. If you are a hunter and will have large amounts of meat to process, you may want to consider a larger food dehydrator so as the D14.
